ABOUT

Trutha’s Musical Journey

Born and raised on the south side of Chicago, Trutha was introduced to rap by his father & older brother, who introduced him to Nas, Common, Kanye West, Scarface, and several others that became huge inspirations. He began writing raps in high school, trying to navigate life and find purpose. “Hip-Hop was a therapeutic avenue where I could feel free to express things I never talk about to anyone.”

While in college, Trutha found direction through a personal experience with God. This birthed a desire to become a messenger for the culture of hip-hop and the world around him. Trutha approaches music as an outlet for sharing truth as well as his innermost thoughts on the world around him.

“Music is a place of transparency that I use to tell my story and the story of others to draw people closer to God. I’ve experienced so much survivors guilt in the past, and music helps me remember God’s plan and how I can help rescue the next generation. Hip-Hop is a great passion of mine, and I desire to use it to bring hope and inspiration to the lost.”
